Your portfolio will get you clients and work, with out a portfolio you will not be able to display your work and advertise yourself. here as are hint and tips on creating a successful portfolio:
Portfolio Building
A
poorly presented portfolio will not do justice to the hours you’ll
spend doing make-up
A
professional portfolio will reflect your ability to present yourself in an
organised manner – no-one wants to look at a messy unstructured and cluttered
portfolio
Spend
time and put thought into the presentation of your work as you’ll be able to
use it for future employment
Design Planning – Make-up Plans
Your
make-up applications need to be recorded onto make-up plans
This
will provide a reference on how the make-up was designed, planned and applied
It
will include a face chart that will be coloured in showing the make-up style
and you can use colouring pencils or actual make-up to do this
It
will include a resource list of the products and the colours that were used
Photographic Evidence
Your
make-up designs will need to be recorded as a series of photographs
1.
Before Photo
2.
Finished Front on
3.
Finished Sides
4.
Finished Specific Elements, i.e., eyes open and
closed
Record of Techniques
You
will need to record a step-by-step process of how you applied specific make-up styles
This
will include the products that you used, the tool that you applied it with and
the technique that you used (for example):
1.
I applied a Ben Nye Matte HD Foundation to the
face and neck using a latex wedge in a stippling movement
2.
The foundation was set with a Grimas Translucent
powder using a velour powder puff
